2005 Jeep GC "5 Speed Shiftable Automatic"?

  • I'm interested in a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee but in one ad I noticed that it is listed with a "5 speed shiftable automatic transmission. Is that like a semi-auto trans so it has no clutch but still shifts?

    What is that?
    If I'm driving it and I don't change gears would the car do it for me?
    Must you always change gears with these cars? Is it any different in the Jeep's model?

  • You can leave the gearshift selector in full automatic or manual shift. I think it's a pretty dumb idea myself. It's much easier to downshift a regular automatic if you need to.
