My husband has gotten one check in 5 weeks. One was his fault initially, he did not turn in his hours in time. Ok, fine. Pay it next week. Oops, he forgot. Now, he owes 3 checks, and another on Friday. Our rent is due, and we are getting shut off notices. I've had the checks on my desk to go out as soon as he gets paid, but it has not happened. What do we do? Say thanks, I've never gotten an eviction for xmas before? My husband works his *** off for this guy.Your husband works his azz off, ok turning them time sheets in is part of him working his azz off.What the heck is your husband's problem, makes me want to ask you are you sure he's still working and just not hanging off at the park or bar,friends,etc... until his supposed to be clock off time. Go to your telephone. Call "Information" (usually 1411 in the US). Ask for your local (usually county) bar association. Ask them for some names of attorneys that handle Employment Law - ask for names of attorneys that handle cases for EMPLOYEES, not employers.
When you call the law office(s), ask to speak to the attorney. Do NOT tell all the details of your matter to the Secretary - save the details for the Lawyer. When you finally get the attorney on the phone, ask #1 first thing:
- Do they take payments?
- How much will their fee be?

pay-day laws vary by state
contact the employer and give them 24 hours to pay all late wages and if they do not comply contact your states department of labor and file a wage claim. A paycheck can not legally be held past a normal payday. but for a very short time. Check your local laws
