Ecologism addresses how we understand nature and the environment and applies this understanding to current sociological approaches."From the eighties onward, it became common to refer to different shades of environmentalism: someone who was obviously green in their opinions might be further categorised as dark green or deep green, implying they had a radical or fundamentalist approach to the need to preserve the environment. This radical end of the green movement has been given the name ecologism within the movement itself, though the word is still infrequent in general usage. Many greens distinguish between ecologism and environmentalism. The former is a fundamentalist philosophy of deep greenness some would argue a political ideology, though not aligned anywhere along the traditional right versus left, capitalism versus socialism axis with a strong spiritual component that seeks to preserve the environment in absolute terms without concern for the place of human beings within it and in particular without making allowance for the potential needs of future generations. To those holding such views, environmentalism is no more than a form of engineering which treats the environment as a resource to be manipulated or consumed while seeking to minimise pollution and other adverse effects; those espousing that approach are sometimes pejoratively described as shallow greens. " Taken from an online blog written by Michael Quinion.Ecologism is the gathering term for all who believe that the biosphere is the fundament of our existence, and the that it therefore should be protected.
There are some who have spiritual reasons for this, they see the presence of organisms and ecosystems as sacred. To them, nature has value irrespective of its fucntion to society. For our emotional well-being, we should guard this ecology, that at the same time envelops us.
Others come from a completely different angle. They say that ecology and our economy are interconnected, and to maintain our economic prosperity, we should take care of our sustenance base, which is our environment. The environment is of value to us because it provides us with services (clean wate and air) resources (agricultural products, timber, ores, etc) and its nice to look at. In this view, some of nature can be sacrificed to serve our ends, although the whole ecosystem should never be jeopardized#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
